Commodore, RPYC

On behalf of the Flag Officers and the membership, I am pleased to welcome you to the web site of the Royal Papua Yacht Club. Throughout its long history our club has endeavored to serve its members and to promote yachting. This web site is a communications tool to help achieve these aims.

As Commodore, I welcome you and yours to Royal Papua Yacht Club- known by many as the “friendliest yacht club in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

From its humble beginnings one hundred years ago, the Royal Papua Yacht Club, celebrates it’s centenary year this year joining an exclusive cohort of member clubs.

The RPYC is the premier yachting and sailing club in Papua New Guinea. We are a “broad church” with membership made up of different nationalities and demographics that each have varied expectations of their club. The club supports the use of club facilities including the marina and the club house for the diverse range of activities from sailing, boating, fishing, canoeing, scuba diving and other aquatic activities as well as land based family and social activities.

The club is committed to fostering a good relationship with the external communities, hosting local and national events ( for example, the hosting of sailing in the 2015 Pacific Games), engaging in community service and assisting in developing the next generation of sailors and water sportsmen and women. I pay tribute to the foundation members and thank the past commodores and the executive committees, membership and management for laying the foundations and building the club up to where it is now. The Royal Papua Yacht Club is evolving and will continue to evolve.
